MEET OUR TEAM

GENE & BERSY

Eugene and Robersy first became dance partners in 2019 while both being part of Sakoso Dance Team in Jacksonville, FL. Together, they’ve traveled around the USA and trained under many artists. They love social dancing, performing, and teaching. Over the years, they have become partners in life and welcomed their first child in 2020. They are so excited to be able to provide a safe and nurturing space for dancers to learn and grow. Eugene & Robersy are committed to continue their training alongside their students to maintain and honor a growth mindset within Malémbe Dance Company.

In 2018, she began her Salsa on2 training with Tumbao Latin Dance Company and co-directed Sakoso Dance Team the following year. Robersy has taught for several years and choreographed a multitude of award winning pieces. When she’s not in the studio, Robersy enjoys spending time with her three year old son, Liam, and sweating it out at Hot Yoga. She is so excited to welcome new dancers to the second season of Malémbe Dance Company, where she hopes to continue to inspire dancers and share her knowledge.

EUGENE HOLLEY

Eugene Holley was born in The Territory of Guam, but was raised in Jacksonville, FL. Eugene has trained in various dance styles such as Bachata, Cha-Cha, Jazz, Salsa, and Zouk, but his favorite style to teach is Salsa. He began his dance journey in 2005 when he became part of Corazón Dancers at Florida State University. While there, Eugene developed his passion for teaching and performing. Training with such a diverse student organization allowed Eugene to develop the ability to teach, direct, and choreograph with a myriad of dancers. Eugene also had the opportunity to attend a multitude of dance workshops, festivals, and congresses where he was able to build a repertoire of knowledge from several of his dance heroes.

During his stay in Tallahassee, Eugene was also part of Tallahassee Salsa Dancers for a few seasons. After graduating college, he moved back to his hometown and continued training and performing with Tumbao Dance Company and Sakoso Dance Team. Post COVID, Eugene focused on career development and welcomed his first child, Liam. Besides being on the stage and social dancing everywhere he goes, Eugene enjoys photography, video games, and nature. Eugene is very excited to return to the dance scene to share over 16 years of experience and is looking forward to continue to build a strong group of dancers.
