Cancellation Policy

At Malembe Dance Company, we are committed to creating a fun, welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone. By attending our classes and events, you agree to help uphold these standards. Respect & Inclusion Treat everyone with kindness and respect. We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, abusive behavior, or disrespect toward participants, instructors, staff, or volunteers. Consent & Partner Dancing Consent is essential. Respect verbal and non-verbal boundaries. Accept "no" to a dance without pressure. Anyone may end a dance at any time. Ask before attempting dips, lifts, tricks, or movements outside class instruction. Always prioritize your partner's comfort and safety. Safe Dancing Dance within your ability, be aware of those around you, follow instructor guidance, and avoid unsafe or reckless movements. Social Dance Etiquette Help create a welcoming community by respecting personal space, avoiding unsolicited teaching or corrections, and supporting dancers of all experience levels. Community First Our events are for dancing and connection, not unwanted romantic or sexual attention. Do not pressure others for dances, contact details, or physical interaction, and respect all boundaries. Harassment Harassment of any kind—including unwanted physical contact, sexual harassment, intimidation, stalking (in person or online), repeated unwanted attention, or retaliation against someone who reports a concern—will not be tolerated. Hygiene & Conduct Please arrive in clean clothing with good personal hygiene. Anyone whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, or impaired by alcohol or other substances may be asked to leave. Photography Photos and videos may be taken for MDC promotional use. If you prefer not to appear, please notify an organizer and we will make every reasonable effort to respect your wishes. Reporting Concerns If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code, please speak with an instructor or organizer or submit a confidential incident report. Reports are handled respectfully and confidentially where possible. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services. Enforcement MDC reserves the right to address violations of this Code, including warnings, removal from an event, or suspension from future activities, to help maintain a safe and welcoming community.
